Immediately after someone receives Jesus by faith, we should help this new believer by laying hands, getting them a Bible and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
1) Receiving the Spirit
Lay hands on the person so they receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. This is the standard practice for new believers and for that reason it’s considered a basic doctrine.
Place your hands on the person and declare authoritatively: “Be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
2) Bible
Make sure the person has access to a Bible. By way of suggestion, a few books should be read first. To understand the history of the world, start off with Genesis 1-11. For the establishment of God’s promise to Israel, Genesis 12:1-7 should be looked at. Next, to become acquainted with Christ’s life, death and Resurrection, one of the gospels is recommended. John is probably the clearest. After that, to understand practical ministry and the history of the church, Acts should be read. Finally, Romans is unmatched when it comes to understanding the basic aspects of the Christian faith. From there, any book can be read.
3) Baptism
As a public declaration of our Spirit-empowered faith, we must be baptized in water. Water baptism is by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. It identifies us with Christ’s death, burial and Resurrection. It’s not necessary for salvation.
Example – based on 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
[Person’s full name], do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God? (Yes)
Do you believe that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures? (Yes)
Do you believe that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures? (Yes)
Based upon your public profession of faith, I now baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
