Along with a new heaven and a new earth, John saw New Jerusalem come down out of Heaven. The Lord Himself will dwell with His people. Christians will live in the New Jerusalem as priests and kings with Christ during His 1,000-year reign. There will no longer be any crying, pain or death. New Jerusalem will be a massive city with a huge wall. There will be pearly gates, streets paved with gold and precious stones everywhere. On a side note, there won’t be a temple in the city, yet there will be a temple during the 1,000-year reign of Christ. What gives? Well, after New Jerusalem comes down from Heaven, it will likely hover over the earth. After all, John never saw it land and it will provide light for the world below. The center of New Jerusalem will be directly above Mount Zion, which will be the tallest mountain in the world. The new temple will extend up into the New Jerusalem, meaning Christ will reign from New Jerusalem and the new temple at the same time, from the same throne room.
