The Daniel 11:22 War
A little while back, Syrian state media reported that Syria’s parliament “ratified a bill handing management of the country’s largest port to a Russian firm for 49 years.” That’s right, Russia isn’t leaving Syria anytime soon. Quite the opposite, according to The Times of Israel, “Russia is considering a slew of major commercial projects in Syria.” Reportedly, Russia plans on spending millions of dollars to modernize the port of Tartus. In addition, the Russians envision building “a railway across Syria and Iraq that will link Syria’s Mediterranean coast with the Persian Gulf.”
That’s a significant project, one which would cement Russia’s status not only in Syria, but in the Middle East at large. It’s difficult to see Israel and many of their Arab neighbors embracing Russia’s plans to camp out in their backyard. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Sheep/Goat nations
In mid-December, the United States lifted its decades-old arms embargo on Cyprus. In related news, Greece said that it will sign a pipeline agreement with Cyprus and Israel in January. This pipeline will ship gas from the eastern Mediterranean to Europe. The United States publicly supports the EastMed pipeline from Israel, through Cyprus to Greece and Italy. The eastern Mediterranean natural gas boom is going to turn countries like Israel, Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Egypt into significant players in the energy market.
Back in July, it was reported that Israel would start exporting natural gas to Egypt. Israeli company Delek Drilling and American partner Noble Energy received approval from Israel’s anti-trust regulator to export natural gas from Israel’s Tamar and Leviathan offshore fields. For their part, the Egyptians are looking to become a “key international trading and distribution” center for natural gas. Well, just a couple days after the US announced it would lift its arms embargo on Cyprus, Noble Energy got final approval to start up the Leviathan natural gas project offshore of Israel. This new arrangement will turn the world’s energy markets upside down and it could explain why the Antichrist invades Jerusalem during the end times to take plunder.

Satanism
Occultism is on the rise in certain parts of the world. For example, in Europe, secular right-wingers are turning to paganism. Not to be outdone, American leftists have fully embraced occult practices. Why are supposedly secular people, who constantly claim to be pro-science and anti-religion, lustily embracing occultism? William D. Howard recently set out to explain the strange alliance between “those who want to eliminate the influence of religion” and “those that promote a “New Age” of nature worship.” What explains this cooperation between neo-pagans and secular humanists? Simply put, they share a hatred of Christianity. In the words of Howard, “What they do have in common is the main objective of ending what has been the dominate influence of the Judeo-Christian morality.”
Man is an inherently religious creature. Deep down, we all know God exists, even the most militant atheist. This is why, like Romans 1 explains, “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” The passage adds, “Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.” The resurgence of paganism, witchcraft and occultism in nations which were built on Christianity isn’t surprising. Few people in these countries have a biblical worldview. In such post-Christian societies, without the restraining influence of God’s absolute moral authority, it’s only a matter of time before being openly satanic becomes mainstream.
London = Babylon the Great?
Without question, Brexit has been keeping the United Kingdom busy. With that matter about to be resolved, the British are starting to shift their attention. Fittingly, one of these issues is Hong Kong. The one-time British colony has been protesting mainland China’s creeping control for a few months now and it seems the UK is finally taking notice. British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab commented, on the anniversary of the Sino-British Joint Declaration, that “Hong Kong is experiencing its greatest period of turmoil since the handover.” He added, “The agreement between the UK and China made clear that Hong Kong’s high-degree of autonomy, rights and freedoms would remain unchanged for 50 years.” What if China refuses to honor the Sino-British Joint Declaration? There are two possible outcomes.
First, many Hong Kongers want to be British again. It’s possible that Britain attempts to get the band back together. The British have the navy to pull it off and would undoubtedly have American support. Certainly, if Hong Kong became an overseas territory of the UK, it would boost Britain’s already robust financial services sector. That said, there’s another option. It’s a lot likelier that mainland China invades Hong Kong to restore order. Such an invasion would make Tiananmen look tame and it would give the United States an easy excuse to completely decouple from China economically. Put differently, it would destroy China, but for the Chinese Communist Party, control is all that matters. Of course, Hong Kong wouldn’t recover. Capital outflows, which are already happening, would accelerate. Hong Kong’s financial services industry would be devastated and much of the capital would head to London. Ultimately, no matter what happens, London’s financial services industry is the beneficiary of Hong Kong’s unrest.
That’s all for this week! Thanks for reading and Godspeed!
