The Daniel 11:22 War
Recently, French president Emmanuel Macron whined that “What we are currently experiencing is the brain death of NATO.” He correctly observed that NATO “only works if the guarantor of last resort functions as such.” He argued, “We should reassess the reality of what NATO is in the light of the commitment of the United States.” Although it wasn’t the most tactful take, Macron is absolutely right. The United States is done being the world’s policeman. President Trump has made this abundantly clear. Back in 2013, Trump said, “We have wasted an enormous amount of blood and treasure in Afghanistan. Their government has zero appreciation. Let’s get out!” As president, Trump has made it clear that his long-term goal is to remove the US from the Middle East. He explained, “I was elected on getting out of these ridiculous endless wars, where our great Military functions as a policing operation to the benefit of people who don’t even like the USA.”
Of course, actions speak louder than words. Earlier this month, after 18 years, the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) left the Middle East. Without question, the US is leaving the Middle East behind. In the future, countries will have to pay for US protection. Saudi Arabia is already paying for American troops and Poland has offered the US significant dollars to open up a permanent American military base. What about NATO? Well, its focus is shifting away from Europe and the Middle East.
In 2018, Columbia became the first Latin American country to join NATO. It won’t be the last. President Trump has suggested that Brazil join NATO. Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed it makes sense “to look into the possibility of having also other countries in Latin America become partners.” NATO is going to shift from the North Atlantic to the Americas and the Pacific. It may even get a name change. To maintain their relevance on the global stage, Europe will have to start investing in their militaries again. It’s no surprise that the European Union is planning on creating its own army. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has made it clear in the past that the EU needs to collaborate on weapons systems development.
Meanwhile, Britain is ahead of the curve. In 2018, the United Kingdom opened its first permanent military base in the Middle East since the 1970s, strategically located in Bahrain. The British have at least three warships in the Gulf to protect their interests. In 2016, Boris Johnson, now the prime minister, gave a speech titled, “Britain is back East of Suez.” In related news, the British have promised to increase their troop presence in Syria. The UK is going to protect its economic interests in the Middle East, which are particularly important post-Brexit.
In conclusion, the Middle East is up for grabs. Russia and Britain have the resources and commitment to control the region, but how will the world’s most volatile neighborhood respond to their attempts?
Sheep/Goat nations
Spain is a mess. Spaniards, like many Europeans, aren’t having babies. It’s an increasingly secular country and the economy isn’t in great shape. One of the wealthiest parts of the country, Catalonia, wants out. Put it all together and it makes sense that Spain has had four national elections in as many years. It’s a divided country, because Spain only ever existed through brute force and Catholicism. Since Catholicism doesn’t have much power in Spain anymore, don’t be shocked if the Spanish people turn to a strongman to keep the fragile country together. For all of his faults, Francisco Franco, a dictator who ruled from 1939 to 1975, oversaw some of Spain’s strongest economic growth. He also kept Spain together. Economic growth and political unity will be Spain and Europe’s biggest challenges in the next several years. Will Europeans turn to dictators for stability?
Indeed, once the United Kingdom leaves the European Union, the United States will sign a free trade agreement with the British. The US will then begin restricting the EU’s access to its market. Likewise, the US is no longer providing free military protection through NATO. The combination of American tariffs and defense expenditures will mean Europe won’t be able to afford its nationalized health care and welfare. Their model was only sustainable through a wealth transfer from America’s middle class. That’s not going to happen anymore. The money is going to run out, and when it does, Europeans are going to look for solutions. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Satanism
Indicted earlier this month for aggravated sexual assault, a Texas man claimed he was possessed when it happened. While it would be easy to dismiss this account as a desperate defense ploy, the victim, an 11-year-old girl, agreed. During a séance, the man’s voice reportedly changed and then he suddenly began sexually assaulting the young girl. For his part, the man remembers the séance, but has no recollection of what took place when he was supposedly possessed.
Now, for many people, it’s absurd to believe this guy was afflicted by a demon. That said, this story shouldn’t be ignored. It’s a cautionary tale. Using spells, incantations and other occult practices to interact with spirits is an invitation to demons. Séances are open doors for demonic affliction. This tragedy was avoidable, but with the rising popularity of occultism, things like this are going to happen with increasing frequency and intensity. It’s time to be aware of demonic affliction and respond appropriately.

London = Babylon the Great?
Christianity is declining rapidly in the United Kingdom. A couple weeks back, Premier Christian Radio cited a study which found that only 18 percent of British people believe the Bible is relevant to them. That’s alarming. Breitbart London also reported on the findings, noting The British Attitudes Survey determined in 2018 that only 38 percent of people in the UK consider themselves Christian. Despite that, Britain still has a state-run church. Fittingly, the Church of England isn’t exactly the most biblically sound or spiritually healthy church. In summary, the UK is an increasingly secular country with a growing Muslim population, yet it has an apostate state-run Christian church. That certainly fits the requirement of spiritual prostitution according to the Bible.
Just as a reminder, Babylon the Great is called a prostitute multiple times. Ninevah and Israel were called prostitutes because they made commitments to the Lord that they later abandoned. Babylon the Great will lead the world to live sinfully, despite having once been faithful to the Lord. As a result, the city will be held responsible for the blood of all the saints and it will be destroyed by the Lord for its wickedness. Considering English is the global lingua franca, British culture is quite influential worldwide. In the past, Britain spread the Gospel. The Gospel made Britain great, but Britons have turned their back on God. What sort of message will they spread in the future?
