The Antichrist’s empire is described in Revelation as a beast with seven heads and ten horns. Revelation 17:10 says the seven heads are seven kings. At the time of John’s vision, five were gone, one was in power and the other would come later and rule for a short time. The Roman Empire was in power during John’s day, so the five empires no longer in power came before it. Daniel’s vision helps identify three of them. In Daniel 7, the Greek Empire was a leopard, the Medo-Persian Empire was a bear, the Babylonian Empire was a lion and the Roman Empire had ten horns.
Well, John’s beast had ten horns and looked like a leopard, had feet like a bear and a mouth like a lion. This means Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome are four of the seven heads. The empires represented in Daniel’s vision possessed the land of Israel and oppressed the Jewish people. This means Egypt and Assyria, which oppressed the Jewish people before Daniel’s vision, are the other heads. The Antichrist will control the geographic areas of these six empires: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. Before the Antichrist rises to power, a ten-kingdom coalition will exist. Eventually, he will take control of it and replace three of the rulers. For that reason, this future ten-kingdom coalition is the seventh empire and the Antichrist’s remixed version is the eighth and final empire.
