And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this. Jesus is eternal. He took on flesh, He died and He rose again, conquering sin and death.
I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich). The testing of our faith produces endurance. Trials lead to perseverance, intimacy with God and power.
And the slander by those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. The synagogue of Satan refers to a group of unbelieving Jews who were persecuting Christians. They claimed to be Jews, the people of God, but they weren’t. Romans 2:28-29 explains that there’s a difference between ethnic Jews and faithful Jews. By rejecting the Messiah, they were no longer spiritually Jews, but they were still ethnically Jewish. Of course, God’s promises still apply. The land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people and all Jews alive at the return of Christ will be saved. [Romans 11:25-26]
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. Like Matthew 24:13 says, he who endures to the end will be saved. Stand firm!
The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death. Revelation 20:14 says that the lake of fire is the second death. The one who isn’t faithful until death will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, but the one who remains faithful will spend eternity with the Lord.
