The Hebrew word the Bible uses for meditation is hagah and it means to utter, to moan or to growl, like a lion. The Greek word, meletaó, means to care for, to practice or to study. So, when the Bible talks about meditation, the idea is that we carefully study God’s Word and declare it out loud. We speak the reality of heaven by faith and it manifests in our lives. Put differently, faith turns the promises of God, spiritual realities, into physical realities. Jesus taught us to pray in the following way: Father, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Our faith is voice-activated. By faith, we declare Jesus is our Lord and are saved; By faith we speak forth the reality of heaven. Considering Psalm 91 is a power-packed, promise-filled portion of God’s Word, we should confidently confess it.
Confession
“I live under the protection of the Lord and dwell continually in His presence. Christ is the vine and I’m a branch; I remain in Him by faith and bear a lot of fruit. The Lord alone is my refuge; He keeps me safe. God is for me. Nothing can separate me from Him and His love. I am more than a conqueror in Christ. The Lord rescues me from every trap and delivers me from the evil one. He protects me from deadly disease. Jesus took my sicknesses and pains; by His wounds, I am healed. The Lord’s faithfulness is my shield; He strengthens me and guards me from the evil one. I do not fear attacks while I sleep, because I do not have a spirit of fear. Quite the opposite, the Holy Spirit has filled me with power, love and sound judgment. Since Christ is my foundation, I remain unharmed in every situation. That said, I am quick to learn from the consequences of other people’s unbelief and sin. The Lord has given His angels orders to protect me and look after me. He gave me authority to tread on serpents and scorpions; nothing hurts me. I love the Lord and He delivers me. I call upon Him and He answers me. Jesus promised that whatever I ask in His name, He will do it. I live a long and prosperous life and look forward to spending eternity in God’s presence.”
